Eastbourne Silver Band feature in “Brassed Off” Production at Devonshire Park Theatre

In September 2017, Eastbourne Silver Band took to the stage at the Devonshire Park Theatre as part of the critically acclaimed production of Brassed Off. Based on the 1996 film of the same name, the production starred Jeffrey Holland and told the heartwarming story of a colliery brass band’s fight for survival in the face of adversity. The band played live throughout the show, performing iconic pieces such as William Tell Overture, Danny Boy, and Land of Hope and Glory, seamlessly blending with the cast. Eastbourne Silver Band’s involvement added an authentic touch to the production, highlighting their versatility and deep connection to the local arts scene. The production was praised for its emotional depth, with reviewers noting how well the band integrated into the storytelling. The star of the show, Jeffery Holland, from Hi-di-hi fame, said ‘…it was a absolute pleasure performing on stage alongside the Eastbourne Silver Band’

Belgium Tour Success!

In 2019, Eastbourne Silver Band embarked on a special tour to Belgium, marking a return to international performances. The band performed at central bandstands in two picturesque towns, sharing their music with Belgian audiences and reconnecting with the joy of live performance.

The tour was about more than just music; it provided a wonderful opportunity for the band members to spend time together, forging stronger bonds as they traveled and performed. Band members described the experience as both enjoyable and rewarding, with the relaxed pace of the trip allowing for socialising and camaraderie between performances. It was a chance to reflect on the band’s history and to celebrate their shared passion for music in a different setting.

The concerts were well-received by local audiences, further reinforcing the band’s long-standing tradition of international engagement. This successful trip to Belgium has encouraged the band to plan more European tours in the future, as they look forward to creating more memories on the road.
