Marcus Plant is now the current Musical Director of the Eastbourne Silver Band. Marcus
is already extremely well known within the music circle. His career is in music and,
as area manager for the Eastbourne Area Music Centre, part of the East Sussex Education
Programme, he spends much of his working time teaching music around the schools and
arranges the Summer School programme. Marcus, as a young boy, moved to the town and
played in the Eastbourne Silver Band and now, as its new Music Director, he has come
full circle and is taking the band forward.
The Eastbourne Silver Band is a group of people who play together for fun. They are
drawn from all walks of life. Professionals to pensioners, school teachers to students.
The band welcomes people of all ages and all abilities. The band is a non-contesting
band and, apart from its regular appearances on the town’s iconic bandstand, support
local charities, churches and fetes amongst its many engagements. The band presents
the annual Remembrance Concert and is believed to be the only band that present a
live concert on the Eastbourne bandstand every Christmas morning.
